Abstract

The Turkish legal-crime series Yargı (The Judgment), comprising 95 episodes across three seasons and aired between 2021 and 2024, is more than a popular drama. Directed by Ali Bilgin and written by Sema Ergenekon, the series offers a philosophical reflection on the dilemmas of justice, professional ethics, and moral conflict within the modern legal system. This study analyses the representation of justice, judicial ethics, and forensic proof in Yargı by examining the relationship between Türkiye’s civil law—rooted in European legal traditions—and Sharia principles that uphold the balance between humanistic and divine values. The study investigates scenes involving judicial procedures, scientific evidence, and the moral dilemmas of the main characters to assess how justice is depicted within both civil and Islamic frameworks. Adopting a qualitative design based on content analysis and doctrinal comparison, the study evaluates the extent to which forensic practices such as DNA analysis, autopsy reports, and laboratory examinations function as the foundation of truth within the civil legal paradigm portrayed in the series. The findings indicate that the modern judicial system depicted in Yargı relies heavily on legal rationalism and forensic evidence. However, from a Sharia perspective, justice is not merely procedural; it is also rooted in sincerity of intention, integrity, and the principle of al-bayyinah, which calls for a balance between outward evidence and inner moral values. Accordingly, this study asserts that genuine justice requires an integration of forensic science and Sharia moral principles so that the modern judicial system remains connected to humanistic foundations and spiritual dimensions
